commonly asked question. Why? Well, it's
because many people refer to me as, "The
List Builder Guy".


And seeing I help people build huge, 
email lists, people often ask my
opinion on this matter. The funny thing
though is that they almost always assume
what my answer will be.


Before I share my answer, let's do a
little multiple choice quiz. What do you
think? Does list size really matter?


A: Yes
B: No
C: Depends
D: All of the above


At first glance the answer may seem quite
obvious. Yes, it does matter. But that is
not a complete answer. Because if you
were to answer B: No, or C: Depends,
you'd also be right. Therefore, the most
correct answer is D: All of the above.


Let me explain...


There are two key elements in any opt-in
email list. They are, quantity and
quality.


First of all, let's discuss size...


The simple fact is, the larger your list
is, the higher your conversions will be.
That cannot be argued.


For example, if you think of your list as
a fishing net, and assuming all other
factors are equal, the person with the
larger net, is always going to catch more
fish than the person with the smaller
net.


This is why marketers often refer to
sales as a 'numbers game'.

Yesterday we discussed the two key
elements of List Building. They are
quantity and quality.


Before I explain how to create a highly
responsive list, let's first recap the 
importance of size.


As we now know, when it comes to your
email list,* List Size Does Matter! *
Without a sizeable list, the quality of
your list won't mean much.


Let me explain...


The industry standard says that a two
percent conversion rate is considered
excellent.


Therefore, let's say you sell a product
for $97.00 and you have a list of 100
subscribers. If you have a responsive,
'quality' list you'll get a 2% conversion
rate. That means you'll make $194.00


Here's the math:

100 x 2% = 2
2 x $97.00 = $194.00


Okay, now let's say you had a list of
1,000 subscribers. Selling the same
$97.00 product at the same 2% conversion
rate, you'd make $1,940.00


Here's the math:

1,000 x 2% = 20
20 x $97.00 = $1,940.00


That's a pretty nice increase in revenues
don't you agree? But to be fair, let's
deduct what it cost you to purchase the
extra 900 subscribers.

Here's the math:

900 x .37 = $333.00


Therefore, in our example, having an
extra 900 subscribers made you an
additional $1,746.00 in gross sales or
and extra $1,413.00 is net sales!


Here's the math:

$1,746.00 - $333.00 = $1,413.00
